Safety is our first priority. Proof of that commitment is a company policy that mandates a strict training regimen. It starts when employees are hired and continues for the duration of their employment. At Thackray Crane, employees are our greatest assets.
Resources allocated to safety training are managed by a fulltime Risk Management Director, along with a safety committee certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor (PennSafe). Job-site and work-site audits are conducted on a daily basis to ensure not only the safety of Thackray employees but also that the contractor’s employees and the general public are not exposed to workplace hazards.
Regular “Tool Box Talks” are conducted by Risk Management and company supervisors. In addition, Thackray Crane Rental has annual companywide safety meetings and quarterly safety talks with all employees. All Crane operators are certified by the National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and must continually update their training to maintain this certification.
Thackray Crane Rental’s driver fleet is comprised of experienced professionals who must complete job-specific training mandated by FMCSA regulations. Mechanics and warehouse personnel also are trained in safe work habits. All employees have completed the OSHA 10- and 30-hour training courses administered by the Risk Management Department. Estimators and Supervisors receive additional training in job hazard analysis. This gives them the ability, while estimating a job, to determine what hazards are present and how to eliminate them. It also helps them determine the full scope of the job, including the requirements of the contractor (Site Specific Training (SSP), for example). Ultimately, this meticulous attention to detail ensures that work will proceed smoothly and safely.
Finally, each Thackray Crane employee is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing as per Title 49 CFR Part 382 inclusive. Thackray Crane Rental has zero tolerance for substance and alcohol abuse.
