OUR HISTORY: Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. is a family-owned business founded in 1947 by Walter and Anna Cassalia Thackray. It is also a classic American story of family determination. This husband-and-wife team established high standards for the company by insisting that honesty and integrity be at the root of all relationships for both business and family. Driven by a work ethic that put a high value on quality service and pride in performance, the Thackrays saw their business grow and their family thrive.
Today, six, second-generation Thackray brothers and sisters manage daily operations. Walter and Anna remain active as consultants, still in touch with the day-to-day routine.

OUR FUTURE : Company Growth has been carefully managed and targeted, with the focus on expansion within the Mid-Atlantic region. Internally generated growth, in turn, has been balanced with strategic acquisitions.
The first priority has been continuous improvement of equipment. From construction-site workhorses such as Carry Decks and Rough Terrain Cranes to the ever-adaptable Boom Trucks, Thackray Crane constantly strives to make traditional jobs more efficient while at the same time developing new capabilities to handle new challenges. The company also has consistently increased lift capacity. Currently, the king of the fleet is a 500-Ton Hydraulic, All Terrain Crane with four powered axels and an onboard computer-control system. Conventional Crawler Cranes and a wide range of Truck Cranes round out a Thackray crane mix that is adaptable to every lifting need.
A second growth target has been expansion into Construction Support Services. It began with non-crane equipment rentals, such as Backhoes and Lulls, then grew to include additional facilities and transportation services. Thackray is unique because of its network of strategically located storage yards and warehouses. These facilities provide secure areas for receiving manufacturers' components and staging them for synchronized delivery, thereby avoiding job-site congestion. The Thackray warehouses can also provide sheltered indoor storage and are adaptable as temporary, sub-assembly fabrication areas. Additional support services include:
• Trailers and transportation
• Inventory control
• Permitting, routing and escort
Over the years, Thackray Crane has developed special expertise in demanding situations, such as air-conditioning cooling tower replacement for large commercial, retail and office complexes. Work of this nature often takes place in high-traffic areas and congested urban centers. In order to minimize disruption, the work usually has to be slotted into tight, off-peak time frames. Such unforgiving conditions require special permission and permits from traffic authorities and government agencies. They also demand close timing for oversized deliveries and smooth job-site synchronization. Thackray's unique blend of crane expertise, warehousing, and transportation and construction-support logistic services makes us a leader in work of this type.
